1:25 000

For a number of years I had the Ordnance Survey one-inch (circa 1970) map of The Lake District mounted on the wall at home. To me it was a thing of beauty, and a reminder of some memorable days out. My companions now are mostly the 1:25 000 series maps. I have an affection for them. I am old school.

The image is a simple interpretation of the grid squares. The work of the American abstract artist Agnes Martin came to mind. I have always been an admirer.
