10 in 10

The annual 10 in 10 Challenge was designed and created by Yvonne Booth in 2011. It was her response to her husband Duncan’s diagnosis with multiple sclerosis in 2010 at the age of 39.

My niece Andrea Clayton, a friend of Yvonne, is one of the many volunteers on the day and encouraged me to do it with four of my other nieces, Nicola, Katy, Susie and Christa and their partners. It was quite a challenge, they certainly didn’t find it easy. On that occasion the course included Castle Crag, High Spy, Dale Head, Grey Knotts, Brandreth, Green Gable, Seathwaite Fell, Allen Crags, Glaramara and Thornythwaite Fell, from Rosthwaite.

I did what is now the standard course, as a solo round and thoroughly enjoyed it. More importantly it is for a good cause and it makes you realise how lucky you are.
