A Steady Climb

A steady climb is a relative term and can cover a wide range of gradients. Much depends on who you are talking to. My partner never believes me! She always assumes the worst. Climbing out of Wasdale to Scafell on the Bob Graham Round is not easy, a bit more than steady. You could describe it, in parts, as steep. As I get older, what used to be steady is now quite hard. Walla Crag from home in Keswick via Ashness Bridge is a steady climb, going up via Cat Gill is steep. Of course you have the option of taking it steady, however steep.

Coming when it does, the climb up High Raise from Stake Pass on the ‘Four Peaks’ was quite tough, ‘a steady climb’. A memory which inspired the image.
