Autumn Remembered

The Lake District in autumn is a magical place.
The area around Grange Fell and Castle Crag in Borrowdale is a particular delight. It hasn’t changed much in my life time, mainly covered with birches which slowly evolve.

An extended walk around Derwentwater, clockwise, taking the lakeshore path to Calfclose Bay and Falcon Crag, Ashness Bridge, Surprise View, Watendlath, Grange Fell, Rosthwaite, Millican Dalton’s cave, Castle Crag, Grange, Brandlehow, Lingholm, Portinscale and back to Keswick, is very special at this time of year.

My image is a colourful reflection of a Remembrance Day walk from Keswick to the summit of Castle Crag with its war memorial to the men of Borrowdale.
