Dodd

The image was designed for the cover of a booklet documenting ‘all the wainwrights in my seventieth year’. Dodd was the first fell of day one of the challenge. The summit is easier to attain than is suggested in the Wainwright Guide, first published in 1962. Dodd was then, literary covered in trees. For a number of years I spent time on Dodd watching the Osprey nest in the valley at the head of the lake and on the Thornthwaite fell-side. Wandering the forestry roads does have a certain charm and are pleasant enough.
