Eagle Crag and Sergeant’s Crag

I have been up the Greenup and Langstrath Valleys many times on my way to the higher fells. I have admired the well proportioned bulk of Eagle Crag, without going up it too often. The last time was with my daughter Sarah, son-in-law Phil and grandson Theo, collecting Wainwrights. After Eagle Crag we went on to Sergeant’s Crag and Ulscarf before returning to Stonethwaite. Sergeant’s Crag is more or less due south on a ridge which continues to High Raise.

The colour references in the image relate to the ‘Eagle’ and ‘Blackmoss Pot’ which nestles in the shadow of Sergeant’s Crag in the Langstrath valley. Blackmoss Pot is a popular bathing place in the summer.
