Great Gable

The name alone makes this majestic mountain very popular with tourists. It is on everyone’s itinerary. The summit landscape is strewn with rocks and boulders, and is the inspiration for the image. In November, the summit is the scene for the annual Remembrance Day service. Set in the rocks that form the summit cairn, is the bronze war memorial tablet to the Fell and Rock Climbing Club members, who gave their lives in the First World War.
