Helm Crag (The Lion and the Lamb)

Like many others over the years, my first acquaintance with Helm Crag was on the Sunday School Coach Trip from Keswick to Morecombe. After Dunmail Raise, we all looked out for ‘The Lion and the Lamb’.

Helm Crag sits nicely behind Grasmere and is a wonderful little climb. It does not stand alone, it is the beginning of a ridge which terminates at Calf Crag. My last visit was on a walk from Dunmail Raise taking in Steel Fell, Calf Crag, Gibson Knott and Helm Crag, finishing in Grasmere. The joys of a bus pass.
