Levens Hall and Gardens
A recent trip to the worlds oldest topiary gardens inspired me to create the image. Levens is one of my favourite gardens. It dates back to the 1690s and covers ten acres. The topiary is a combination of box and yew trees shaped into the most wonderful abstract and geometric shapes rising up from an impressive display of underplanted bedding plants. Combined with a tour of the house and the obligatory coffee and cake, it makes it a great day out. If you have time to spare Sizergh, a medieval manor and garden are just down the road and are equally impressive.
