Martindale Old Church

Day 31 of my Wainwright Challenge saw us in Patterdale. The itinerary: Place Fell, Hallin Fell, Steel Knotts and Beda Fell. It was very hot, so hard going over Place Fell. The oversized cairn on Hallin Fell was a surprise. I was intrigued by the naming of the summit on Steel Knotts ‘Pikeawassa’. The highlight of the day was revisiting Martindale Old Church, which is beautiful in its simplicity. We retured to Patterdale via Beda Fell and Boredale Hause.
