Shepherd's Delight
The concept was initially developed as a christmas card, ‘Red sky at night . . .’, and shepherds watching over their flocks. When I pondered its link to the Lake District I thought of our obsession with the weather and the indigenous herdwick sheep. If I had not gone into graphic design, I would have quite happily been a shepherd. One of the delights of walking the fells is to come across herdwick sheep. The ‘redding’ of herdwick sheep to show is a proud tradition which still goes on today. A different kind of shepherd’s delight.
The simplicity of the image reminds me of the work of Ellsworth Kelly
