St Michael and All Angels Church, Isel, 2022

Blue sky and a churchyard filled with daffodils. An annual ritual with my mother was to visit Isel church at Easter time to see the daffodils. I remember there were often pheasants, and last week, my partner and I were not disappointed. Apart from the pheasants we had the place to ourselves, and it was as evocative as ever.

The image I have produced to reflect the memories, can of course be read in other ways. The beautifully simple flag of Ukraine comes to mind at this time. For the people of Ukraine the flag represents calm and joy, or, blue sky and a field of ripe wheat. What we would all give for that right now.
