St Olaf's Church, Wasdale Head

The last time I visited St Olaf’s Church was with my partner Kathy, daughter Sarah, son-in-law Phil and grandson Theo. I had just completed my Wainwright Challenge on Yewbarrow. After a celebratory cup of tea, I wanted to show them the small pane in the south window with the engraving of Napes Needle and the quote from Psalm 121, which seemed very appropriate at the time.

For me, St Olaf’s has been a place of pilgrimage.
It feels very special: the smallest church near the deepest lake and the highest mountain in England.
