Steeple

I have been on Steeple many times, nearly always associated with a Bob Graham Round. Wainwright describes the view from Steeple 'as from a cloud in heaven'. It does feel very special. The name has a certain romantic connotation, views are excellent and it is well worth a visit. Approaching it from Scoat Fell, (as on a BG), it is literally a ten minute walk. In bad weather a kink in the wall which runs from Scoat Fell to Haycock and beyond is key to locating the short arete. The direct ascent from Ennerdale, which I have done, is more demanding.

After visiting Steeple you will understand why Bob Graham included it in his round. He did not include Scoat Fell as the summit was not clearly identified on Ordnance Survey maps at the time. They are however, intrinsically linked.
