The Western Fells

Day 42: start Harrow Head, Wasdale, visiting Buckbarrow, Middle Fell, Seatallan, Caw Fell, Haycock, Steeple, Scoat Fell, Red Pike and Yewbarrow, finishing at Overbeck Bridge, Wasdale.

A good walk for the final day of my Wainwright Challenge. It was great that Phil (son-in-law) could join me. The round for the day included two fells I had not previously visited, three from the Joss Naylor Challenge and four from the Bob Graham Round.

A celebratory pot of tea was enjoyed at Wasdale Head Inn before visiting St Olaf’s Church. The image of Napes Needle and the quotation, etched on the small diamond-shaped pane of glass within the south facing window, ‘I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my strength’ seemed very apt.
