Tormentil, Low High Snab

A perfect May walk in the Newlands Valley. Not a cloud in the sky and the green sward scattered with the very delicate, yellow Tormentil. In addition to the wonderful landscape the walk is full of random memories for me. Braithwaite and all my old school friends, David Wright, the poet, David Imrie, the gamekeeper, Low Uzzicar, Rigg Beck, Newlands Church, Percy Kelly, the painter, Low High Snab, Molly Lefebure, the author, Robinson, Hindscarth, Goldscope Mine, Dalehead, High Spy, Maiden Moor, Geoff Relph, the farmer at Little Town Farm, Stone Gate Stoops, Mrs Tiggy-Winkle and Catbells.

The image reflects the colours of the day. But for me, it is as much about the people, and the farmsteads, represented by the white spaces between the colours.
