Walk of Hope 1

We were very lucky to be based in Keswick during the coronavirus pandemic. Walking around Derwentwater was a privilege and a pleasure. It was eerily quiet, giving time to look, listen, think and contemplate the future. In early April the weather was glorious and the ubiquitous gorse was in full bloom. It is particularly profuse near Brandelhow. It is an interesting plant in that it flowers all year, which makes it an appropriate symbol of hope. The swathe of bog myrtle, near Manesty, which I like, was at the catkin stage and strongly aromatic.

The image represents the gorse, the pandemic and the bog myrtle.
